  The presidency has again raised an alarm of a smear campaign being lauched against President Buhari.    Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina who made the claim in a statement titled “Unrelenting plot to wage smear campaign against President Buhari", alleged that a  specific medium had so far contacted some opinion leaders, especially those very critical of President Buhari.   Adesina alleged that the quest for power is responsible for the drive and that impeccable security findings indicated that those behind the plot would launch coordinated publications, alleging subjugation and suppression of a particular religion and ethnic groups. click here

  The Oyo state government has announced a ban on human and vehicular movements during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.    The state's Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Abdulateef Oyeleke however said the exercise which would hold between 6am and 9am on Saturday, will not affect those on essential duties including health workers, journalists, and the law enforcement agents.   Oyeleke directed Chairmen of Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in the state to ensure compliance in their respective domains as it is expected that citizens utilize the period to clean their surroundings.   All directors of Environmental Health Services in the 33 Local Governments and 35 Local Council Development Areas within the state, have also been directed to monitor the exercise as a matter of duty. click here

  A Brazilian sex worker who swallowed 1.2 kilos of cocaine to smuggle it into the UK has been jailed for more than four years.   Luan Irving Dos Santos Monteiro, 31, was reportedly stopped by border agents at Heathrow airport on Christmas Eve last year as he flew into Britain from Sao Paulo.    An x-ray revealed he had ingested 101 packages of cocaine with a street value of almost £100,000 before getting on the 11-hour flight.  click here

  Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has warned against online nudity just after #SilhouetteChallenge in which social media users dress down as they vibe to Paul Anka’s song "Put Your Head On My Shoulder", took a prominent spot online.    In tweets the cleric shared, he told Christians that they are "quenching the spirit if they think viewing nude photos and videos on social media is okay".    According to Pastor Adeboye, the little window one gives to the flesh strenghtens it and makes people go back to those pictures/videos after that time.   Ace Nigerian broadcaster Bisi Olatilo has recovered from COVID19. The broadcaster was admitted into the Mainland Hospital in Yaba, Lagos two weeks ago after testing positive for the novel virus.   The 67-year-old was rumored to have died from the illness but he quickly released a video to debunk the report.   He has successfully been treated and has been discharged from the hospital.   First pictures of the victims of Sunday's plane crash which claimed the lives of four Brazilian footballers and their club president have been revealed.  Palmas defensive midfielder Guilherme Noe, 28; left-back Lucas Praxedes, 23; goalie Ranule Gomes dos Reis, 27; and striker Marcus Molinari, 23, were killed along with Palmas FR president Lucas Meira, 32, and pilot Wagner Machado, 59.   The footballers had just joined the fourth-tier club and were yet to make their debuts before their death.  According to reports, the small aircraft was taking the group to Goiania, around 500 miles away for their Brazilian cup game against Vila Nova on Monday in the Copa Verde.   Senior Pastor of the Omega Fire Ministries has reacted to reports that he is being investigated by the police for allegedly sleeping with one of his former pastor's wife.   Pastor Mike Davids, a former pastor of his church, had in a petition filed to the office of the Inspector General of Police and in a viral video he shared, claimed that the clergyman slept with his wife, Pastor Faith Edeko.   Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, says Yoruba leaders have called President Buhari and warned him not to allow the police to arrest him.   Igboho made news last week following the eviction notice he gave to Fulanis residing in Igangan, Ibarapa north local government area of Oyo state. His comment reportedly incited some of his supporters to destroy houses and cars, including those of Saliu Kadri, the Seriki Fulani of Igangan.   Following the attack on the Fulani settlement, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, directed the state Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, to arrest Igboho and transfer him to Abuja.   In a recent video shared by Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, Igboho while addressing a crowd, said Yoruba leaders are not pleased with the killing of their people by herdsmen and have warned President Buhari against arresting him.   Footballer Chikelu Ofoedu was filmed confronting a soldier who slapped him on the road.   The footballer, who plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv, explained in the video shared online that the soldier, identified simply as Nasiru, had taken "one-way" yet refused to accept he was in the wrong and he slapped him rather than admit his error.   He's seen asking the soldier why he slapped him and refused to let the soldier drive off.   On his part, the soldier came out of his car with a machete then charged at Chikelu with it.   A female soldier tried to hold the male soldier back but he dismissed her and continued threatening Chikelu. click here

  A Ukrainian man has been arrested for killing his father and wearing the dead man's intestines on his neck.   Dmitry Ponomarenko from Odessa is accused of stabbing his 53-year-old dad multiple times on Jan 20, 2021, after an argument broke out between them.   A Kiev district court was told that Ponomarenko cut off his father's head and ripped open his stomach, before turning the knife on a 32-year-old neighbour who rented a room from the family, killing him instantly.   The prosecutor in court claims that then Ponomarenko, who reportedly has a wife and small child, went out into the street with his father's head and intestines around his neck.   Local media claimed Ponomarenko emerged from his flat on January 20 covered in blood and was hitting cars with his dad’s head.   One resident told a reporter: "A naked and bloodied man, wrapped in guts and holding the head of a man came out of the front, sat on a bench and lit a cigarette."   While being ques...

As the seven-day ultimatum Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, issued herdsmen occupying Ondo state forests expires tomorrow January 24, the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo has declared that nobody has the power to remove Fulani herdsmen from the state’s forests.    In an interview with The Sun, Bodejo claimed the Fulani's own all the land in Nigeria.   The National Assembly's resumption which was initially scheduled for January 26 has been postponed till February 9.   The postponement was conveyed in a statement released by the clerk to the National Assembly, Ojo Olatunde Amos.   Amos said the postponement is to enable members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party to participate in the registration and revalidation of its membership scheduled to commence on Monday, January 25.   The statement  read;    “This is to inform all distinguished senators and honourable members of the National Assembly that the resumption of plenary sessions earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 26th January 2021 is hereby rescheduled for Tuesday, February 9, 2021."   Nine soldiers have reportedly been killed by Boko Haram insurgents during a rescue operation in a forest along Mararaba-Udege road in Nasarawa state linking Otukpo Oweto in Benue state.   The Nation reported that the slain soldiers who were led to the forest by an officer Felix Kura, an indigene of Benue state, were Iliya Kefas, Bati Yakubu and other young officers whose names cannot be identified immediately.   It was learnt that the soldiers from 177 Guards Battalion, Shitu Barracks in Keffi, Nasarawa state were on a mission to dislodge the Boko Haram terrorists from the forest who kidnapped many indigenes of the state and held them in captive.   They killed five Boko Haram terrorists before they were overpowered by the terrorists whose weapons were more sophisticated. 

  Singer Naira Marley has reacted to some school children being arrested by Amotekun operatives for modelling themselves as him.    In the video which has gone viral,  a lady who is supposedly a teacher in the school described the boys as criminals and also disclosed that they were apprehended in a bush.    Reacting to this, Naira Marley expressed his desire to meet the kids and further described their arrest as "child abuse".   Yulia Navalnaya, the wife of Russian opposition leader and president Vladmir Putin's main critic, Alexey Navalny, was detained in Moscow on Saturday, January 23 as protests held in support of her husband sweeps across Russia. Navalny's mother, Lyudmila Ivanovna Navalnaya, also joined Yulia to attend the rally in Moscow. Leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has reacted to the Inspector General of Police's order for the arrest of Yoruba youth leader, Sunday Igboho over eviction notice to Fulanis herdsmen. Last week, Ondo state Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, issued a seven day ultimatum to herdsmen occupying Ondo state forests to vacate the state accusing them of banditry and incessant killings. The e ultimatum expires on Sunday January 24.    In reaction to the ultimatum the Presidency stated that no one has right to tell herdsmen where to live. Oyo state Youth leader, Sunday Igboho held rallies this week in the South West giving herdsmen quit notice to leave the state and accusing them of incessant robberies and kidnapping in the state.
